YorksRob there is an option in gameplay settings to turn it off totally.

This was one of the first things I noticed after updating the game, I'm happy to say there is an option to turn them off!

 Now, what we need is the same for those annoying never ending stupid Event things so many of us do Not like.

I placed an alarm at the three entrances to the house and had Oliver update them to alert the police should a burglar try something.  When the burglar came at 4 am, the alarm went off and the police came.   The alarm wakes up the whole family.  

I removed the alarm to see what Yogi would do since one of his traits is aggressive.  The first time Yogi woke up, he played with his ball then fought the burglar and scared them off.  The second time the burglar walked into the living room where Yogi was sleeping; Yogi woke up, fought the burglar and once again scared them off.  During both times, my items were retrieved. 

I did another test with another dog who did not have the aggressive trait.  The burglar put several items in their bag.  Eventually, Bruno went to the room with the burglar, fought and scared them off.  Stolen items retrieved. 

It is a great that Oliver has upgraded the alarms in preparation for any burglary 🙂 I hope that if it happens, everything goes well. 

I put my alarm indoors and a burglar came and stole my child's jungle gym outside. My alarm did not go off. I got my sim to go after the burglar and they had a fight. My sim had body skill 10 and won. I've put my alarm outside to see if it works better 

It would be neat if we only needed one inside and could upgrade it to activate when certain doors open.  Or even fencing if we have one so that they couldn't steal outside objects.   Hope putting the alarm outside works for you!  

I had my first burglar arrive when playing today! The alarm went off, but the police didn't come (or at least I didn't see any). Luckily my sim beat up the burglar and he ran off 😆

There is an upgrade to the burglar alarm for it to call the police automatically. The only point of the alarm initially is just to wake up all your sims. You can call the police from your phone or by clicking on the burglar, or you could upgrade the alarm with the right upgrade. Hope this solves your problem.

With Cats & Dogs, territorial cats should be able attack and chase out burglars as well. I mean, they attack strangers already as it is. They would totally be guard and attack cats towards a robber.
