In my other saves Newcrest is always my playground for testing out new building ideas.
In my decadechallenge, Newcrest is "representing" my hometown, but it's more a fantasy setting with the style influence of it, but I play it a lot.

The big red building is a smaller version of my primary school, and is represent the school too. The building with the unplayed sims, was at the beginning of the challenge the red light district. I still plan to build a courthouse with prison, sportfield with a gym and an administration building. One of the more noble place should become a hotel one day.
ooo now that is interesting
I think i might relocate the boring suburbans i had to somewhere else and do like community lots there i think that be more fun
maybe like dodgy city part to complement the perfect city in other part
I think my problem with newcrest is exactly that I am trying to make it too much of perfect happy place of boredom cause it looks like that by default
I still remember the explanation from agent Smith from the first Matrix movie. The first version was a happy liveforeverly place, which felt too unrealistic to the "inhabitant". The next version was more like the real world and its problems, the humans accept this virtual world much better. ?
Many ideas came to me during the game sessions, when I had suddenly the need for a specific location. Maybe that will help you too, to not get in stress about the buildings? Just take all the time you need.
My next longtime goal is to replay the decade challenge once more, but this time with all the right decadebuildings and families at the beginning. I made so much mistakes at first. Hmm, maybe in 2022 I can start with it, right now I still have around 90 years to play. ?
:joy: idk I just feel like i want to eventually have one save where ive built every single lot but I feel I keep avoiding themes lots and worlds that are not my absolute faves and  I need to get over that bias if i want to ever see a completed world in this save
though i do think newcrest was probably too big bite to go for right now given its my least favourite world in whole game
I like worlds with very distinct themes like forgotten hollow or selvadorada or mt.k cause i immediately know what i should be building there but newcrest is just
