It was never completely fixed for me. When it was fixed, I had babies with the darkest skin tone, or the lightest one, and never anything in between. Basically, if a baby is extremely pale it would have the lightest skin tone in the thumbnail, but if it had any coloring at all it would have the darkest skintone in the thumbnail.
Honestly I don't care that much. They're babies so briefly, and when they age up their skintones match the portrait so I just ignore it.
