Nifty Knitting - Is it worth it?

Nifty Knitting - Is it worth it, or should I wait till it goes on sale?

  • Maybe; if you're the sort of person who is really, really into knitting. If you get done knitting for the day and then want to fire up a video game where you can also knit, then it's probably a great pack to have.
  • I went ahead and got it after initially thinking "really?!" because of the metal station. But it turns out, I must have a very different idea of what qualifies as metal!

So...a nice surprise was the rocking chairs and how nice they are to have, how they creak comfortingly when in use and makes Sims feel nice while rocking.

The knitting? I don't get why every swatch is its own object either, and why everything's a buttery Martha Stewart 1990s pastel wasteland.

But it was worth having, if only for rocking chairs on porches.

And it made me consider knitting again. I haven't knit in years, took a class and learned Scandinavian, knit some multicolor Scandinavian Star patterned mittens that were too narrow (I have big wide hands and will have to learn to increase a pattern's girth because seems like patterns assume skinny narrow hands even on larger sizes), and haven't knit since then.

Are there scandinavian patterns and colors in the pack? I haven't seen any but I haven't searched every option, either. Hoping so, because again, here comes Martha Stewart with the Butter Mints swatches when I want bright and dark, high-contrast and intensely colorful traditional Scandinavian colors and patterns.
  • @Nushnushganay yeah, that's the only bad thing about the pack, the colours. And even the brown wood tone matches nothing else, so you kinda get restricted to black or white unless you happen to have a very colourful room.
  • @Nushnushganay I feel the same way about the pastel colours and really wanted some rich, high contrast colourful stuff as well. I'm from Finland, so maybe that's why the chosen colours just feel wrong to me. The reason for the colour palette though is that people voted for the pastel style, this was a community voted stuff pack. What didn't you like about the metal station? Curious because it seemed passable to me. It was really funny because my boyfriend who listens to a lot of metal knew some of the bands.
  • I love the pack even though I didn't vote for it. I wanted HH, and I still do but NK was a pleasant surprise. I love the rocking chairs and would love to see more styles rather than the country style rocker. Everyone in my game who needs extra income knits, even the guys, Chazzzy. :D

You inspired me to give a solid listen to all the songs on the metal station, and I stand corrected, only two of them strike me as something that isn't what I'd call metal, and I think I just had the misfortune to hit them first. Not that they are bad, but The Hu's Mother Swan song when I heard it, sounded like beautiful Mongolian throat singing, and kind of an updated folk song but not metal to me. I listened to more of their work and while I like it, it's just not metal, to me.

And the other one was Myrkur. It sounded like Enya with a few bits of metal stuck on here and there as a decorative accent.

But I'm sure opinions vary as do noses and not dissing other people for having a broader understanding of what metal is and isn't, than I do. I'm probably limited and biased. But I'll also turn those two songs off my metal station folder, because they kind of interrupt the vibe I'm after when I turn it on.
  • It isn't on sale for the PS4, but it is one stuff pack I kind of want. There is a hairstyle I kind of want from it because I really like it. However, for gameplay, I heard from others it isn't just knitting stuff that they can sell, but paintings too. I kind of thought it was stupid when it first released, but I want to create a character like Molly Weasley, and have her knit stuff for people. It is also a good way for my sims to earn money, without using a cheat. So yeah, I kind of want to get the pack myself.

    I think you misspelled "crafty".
