No desire to play

You can play another game until you miss you sims ! That's what i did... and the same goes for this other game franchise; i have been playing need for speed since 1998 (high stakes) so I just realized whoa that's like, alot ! And the sims, btw i took a break from all videogaming from 2002 to 2009. So i had a few gaps of years without touching it. Another franchise i was active in was, Simcity and when it got canned i felt depressed... and so it wasnt until TheSims4 that i got into this universe, and it has been almost ten years of TS4, and in those years i also had a few gaps of many months. 

All that to say, I felt like you just a couple months ago, i had just bought 2 packs and was having fun establishing new neighbourhoods and lots and setup lots and households, but felt uninspired and the reaper quest came and it took away my desire to play altogether.

Now I am looking forward to start new adventures and i got a couple of ideas already, i miss my sims and will try to evolve my playastyle to include more actual gameplay. I got to a point of no return w building and it took me to step back to re assess my purpose with TS4. Taking a step back help re focus sometimes. So there surely will be another trigger down the line for you so i wouldnt be too worried about it, once a simmer always a simmer !

Just take a break. Play something else, watch some movies, read a book. 

I took about four months off from playing recently, then got interested again. In the past, I've taken even longer breaks. Just because you're not interested now, doesn't mean you won't be again. It's ok to leave it for a time.

I  had the Sims do that to me to I  have posted and Addressed this and so far no response EA needs to get on this to keep there Fans. I  have not given up on playing but I  know how you feel. EA needs more ideas. See mine we need is them to see what we have to offer to keep us going. what is needed is a Petion to pass are idea to others to like them for new ideas. I  know what are the odds. but it's they best way to open there eyes for new ideas. Taking a Break is ok to till they get new idea's out there if you like my idea's pass it a long.

You just need play something else.Find a game your interest in

Taking a break is never wrong! It might give you some ideas from other areas in life, too.

Re the no response from sims; did you remove your mods folder? I had something similar very long ago and if I recall correctly it was caused by a CC thing causing lag. You could also see if it occurs in a new save when only playing premade households , not yet adjusted in any way.

You can always pick up another hobby for awhile until you're inspired.  I remember back in 2020 during the beginning of quarantine, I was so bored with tears of my Sims 4.  I tried to play my Sims 3, Sims Medieval & my Civilization VI;          Adult Coloring & Drawing.  Then I got inspired to make my 1st different time line game saves.  At first it was just Historical, Current & Futuristic game saves.  Then it became, Prehistorical, Civilization, Medieval/Victorian, Ragtime/20th Century & Futuristic 2525.  Then, I deleted my Prehistoric because it was too limited & too hard to continue.  But had Ancient Times, Dark Ages - Medieval, Victorian - Ragtime, 20th Century & Futuristic 2525 and Beyond game saves.  Unfortunately recently, I've had to cutdown my game saves due to PC Storage.  So I've deleted my beloved Futuristic 2525 and Beyond game save.  I figured I could always have my Aliens & Doctor Who household live in other game save that I renamed 20th Century/Current & Beyond.                                                                                                                                            What can I say, I so love playing with different Timelines.  Oh, I've never gotten bored with Sims 4 again & I play vanilla with my many, many packs.

Same I have not played since early last year none of the new content interest me at all and the romance pack that I had been begging for for years could not even add in decent turn ons/turn offs physical attraction options my last hope of the game really improving ever was destroyed. Wish I could play how I wanted and not have every feature they add be the complete bare minimum but it's just not going to happen. 

Try taking a break from playing it. That’s what I do. 

I have been a sims player for 10 years and yeah, I have run out of steam too. 

EA not working on a sequel is a terrible decision.

Yeah been finding it bit hard myself since they announced that they'll continue releasing TS4 to the eternity or so

I love the game but it was just reassuring to think its gonna be complete some day so I could just like play and have fun without constant new content = new bugs and new marketing tactics to be annoyed about and worry about my computer possibly exploding 😅

Also now I just don't really know what to play with tbh cause there could be pack about that exact thing next season and then I'm again like ah better wait for that first 😅

but yeah if its just inspiration issue it helps to take break from the game and do some things more physical or play different type of game or whatever gets your mind off it for a bit

personally I like to opt for activities that involve no screens and preferably less rotting in my chair cause I do all too much of that anyhow 😅
