No hate, but how can a game from 2014 have such terrible AI?

Another one that I forgot about but actually bugs me constantly is vegetarian sims willing choosing to eat meat leftovers and then they feel sick. Even when there's a vegetarian option in the fridge! That shouldn't matter though, if the only leftovers left are meat, then the vegetarian sim should choose to make a new meal.
