I'm really wondering why they offer so few occults in sims 4. It was a bit overkill in sims 3 with occults in EVERY EP and a supernatural EP. But sims 4 is the exact opposite, the occult part is a barren wasteland.
In sims 3 we got 15 occults with 11 EP's
In sims 4 we got 2 occults with 12 packs (EP and GP combined)
(15 in Sims 3 being Ghost, Mummy, SimBot, Vampire, Imaginary Friend, Unicorn, Genie, Werewolf, Witch, Fairy, Zombie, Aliens, PlantSim, Mermaid and Plumbot)
Vampires prove the occults work in a GP formula but only if you as a few occult GP's to choose from. Right now if you want to play an occult with perks its vampires or nothing. Really frustrating.
I'm also wondering why the skeletons in JA are not a proper lifestate. They did their best to make the skeletons a thing, but it feels as if someone is trying avoid adding proper occult life states on purpose.
I do hope were are getting more of them, but considering the released content so far, I am very pessimistic. I think we will get one more, maybe two. I suspect the best results of the vote on twitter earlier this year. (not my first choice)
I'm still waiting for my personal favourites: werewolves and robots. I guess my best chances of seeing them again would be a different occult policy for sims 5 (if we ever get that far with this franchise). I've also giving up on my other favourite: the plant sim. I don't think they are planning on ever updating the poor plantsims to a proper lifestate. This half done temporary condition is a real missed opportunity.
Preach!
It bugs the heck out of me that Occults seem to be hardly a priority in the Sims 4. It feels as if development is too busy with an agenda to build a Sim version of our own reality in a Utopia. I remember in the first year or so of Sims 4's release, there was a statement from a Guru who said something on the lines of, "Supernaturals were never intended to be a consistent part of the Sims". And those of us who wanted them were astounded because things like Aliens and magic have been part of the franchise since Sims 1.
So, yeah, the Vampires are awesome and Aliens are cool, but the others are merely scraps of what they could be. And with the recent polls, it looks like there's only going to be room for a couple more because they are prioritizing what Twitter fans want the most. Which, if it comes down to the top three, would be Witches (yay!), Mermaids (shrug), and Imaginary Friends (ugh!). So I expect Werewolves and any chance of expanding shapeshifters, as I hoped, is out. *Sob*
Maybe I'm wrong. I'd love to be wrong and have a really great expansion come out that's loaded with all kinds creatures. But if we want that to happen, those of us who love Supernaturals, Mythical beings, Sci-Fi, and anything Fantastical are going to have to be a lot louder.
