Yeah, there is a type of fashion called avant grade as well, which is where the weird fashion usually was. Fashion is NOT always normal or wearable. Some fashion are more like art pieces than practical or fictional designs, and some fashion designers are more about making a statement.
Edited to add: Oh, and haute couture is another fashion type that can get a bit weird sometimes as well.
I think a lot of that is just to show their range and actually attract people like movie directors and such to their out there style they can do and for actual stars to use in performances. Many designer design on both sides of the spectrums for a purpose - not necessarily even something they would expect the general upper class famous to wear but the chance to feature their out of the ordinary in some next high end tech movies as the chosen fashion designer. They do it because they can. Add to that there are plenty of people rich enough to also love to draw the attention of thos one ofa kind specialty high fashion crazy clothes ideas.
Most people just like to fit in with the elite crowd but there is always the few that will never want to be remotely alike anyone else. So it will always have a place - but in a game about fashion career it really needs a bit of both - not just yesterdays meat dress. This is what I hope we see with the free career. Super nice styles - mostly super nice. LOL. I am not into crazy unless its in a science fiction movie myself. LOL. Although I do love goth - I don't see that as out there though. Meat dresses. satellites going around the head and weird rings in the skirt that light up - out there. Jetsons on parade. not my thing and definitely not high fashion in my view. It is definitely in the eye of the player though. I still have to acknowledge that.
