It's been awhile since I've played and it seems there's no longer a Haunted option for lot traits??? I also seem to remember an alternate haunted option for the Paranormal pack which I have and it's installed since the furniture is there. Any info or ideas appreciated!
Haunted House is a lot type, not a lot trait. So you need to change the lot type from residential to haunted house for it to work.
When Paranormal came out and they added the Haunted lot type, they changed what was the "haunted" lot trait to the "spooky" lot challenge. Look under lot challenges.
I seem to recall that the ghosts from Paranormal are completely different from the Sim ghosts you could get from the original haunted lot trait.
As you can see, the old Haunted lot trait seems to be missing and this is true if the lot is set to Haunted or regular residential. So I am curious if it's no longer possible to get the old option that gave you the regular Sim ghosts.

Indeed, they are. The only real sim ghosts that will show up in a haunted house from time to time are Guidry and Temperance, other than that the house is only haunted by specters.
I had actually completely forgotten about the existence of the haunted lot trait. But as some others have stated already this was renamed to spooky and can now be found under lot challenges. So that is probably what you are looking for.
Yes but all that brings you are Guidry and Temprence and all the little blob specters. Man I miss the regular ghosts that used to haunt your lot! :( WHY did you make this awful change EA???
You can still have those regular ghosts. You have to select lot challenges (indicated by the red arrow in the image above) and then choose the spooky challenge with the ghost icon (my game is in German, so it has a different name, but the icon should be the same for you). The spooky lot challenge has the same effect as the old haunted lot trait. They just renamed it and moved it to lot challenges.
As the others said, the haunted trait IS still in the game.
It’s just been renamed to Spooky, and is now classified as a lot challenge, rather than a regular trait.
