I think the world is one of the better looking ones that we have gotten lately. It looks Scandinavian and there is a nice mix of both old and new looking houses. They also have some classic red looking houses on an island. The red houses are common here in Sweden.
Build/Buy features some interesting roofs which makes you able to create some older looking houses and I can see that they have some of those around the marketplace which is not uncommon as we often have older looking houses around marketplaces or closer to the sea, often old state houses.
They got the trees mostly right although the marketplace has some decorative ferns which I think are standing out a bit. They did place cars and bikes around the world and on parking spaces but the cars don't really look european (although the signs do) , we have a lot of SUVs, station wagons and hatchbacks here. There is a focus on biking though with you being able to collect bike parts around the world which seem to have classic nordic names which is a nice touch.
I think the world is a bit too big which makes it look empty, I don't really think they needed to make a big decorative park with sculptures and benches (not an actual lot) but they did do a good job of placing things around in the rest of the world that sims seem to use. No rabbit holes (looking at you Tomarang) but actual interactive items which I like.

I agree with you from the videos I have watched the world looks empty. I love San myschuno and it never looks empty because the livable area is small. Same with the base game worlds. I wish they went back to that.
