I've got a LOT more flats than heels, and it's a shame the team thinks that everyone wears heels and/or exposes their feet all the time. Maybe it's because of the English climate but I don't actually have many open shoes.

These days, I wear a lot of flats, too. Though, when I was younger, I wouldn't have been caught dead in them. I was that girl that wore heels all the time, even to walk the dog. I trained my feet so badly that flats no longer felt comfortable. Meh. :rolleyes:

There is definitely something very off about the shape of the TS4 female shoes. I suppose that it's meant to be stylized. Still, I really don't like them.
Since you're already using mods, there are some excellent HD feet at Mod the Sims. If you don't have them already, they look wonderful in game, seamless. At least when Sims are barefoot, their feet won't have to look like wedges of wood. Hopefully, if there's a TS5, the Sims will finally have actual feet.
Madlen shoes are everything. I have many, many of them in-game. <3
