Not much to do at Snowy Escape festivals..

I wish there was more to do at the festivals in Snowy Escape. They could’ve added some more activities for our sims to take part in. The CL festivals are a little better and prefer those over SE because there’s more activities. So far the Youth festival is the only one with the most activity. Anyone disappointed as much as I am? Any ideas that festivals could have been better?

You're right. I totally forgot about that. That shows how long it's been since I sent my sims to the flea market.

Festivals are another area that the Sims team need to overhaul. I rarely send my sims to any of the festivals anymore. The ones for Snowy Escape are awful. It isn't much different from the ones in Island Living. I've started to get bored with the festivals in San Myshuno as well. There aren't enough activities to do at any of the festivals, and it is annoying that we can't edit festivals. Not that it would matter because there wouldn't really be anything we could add to make it better at this point. I still haven't figured out why Seasons didn't come with festivals like in Sims 3. I live in the South. Some festivals are better than others, but the bigger festivals are more like carnivals/fairs. There are usually games, rides, contests (eating, costumes, cooking), stages for performances, and artisan vendors who sell jelly, jam, jerky, jewelry, jars of veggies and fruit, baked goods, candles, sculptures, paintings, clothing, wood carvings, and metal work. You can usually find haunted houses and a psychic/medium/fortune teller at a fall festival.

One of the big issues is that we have the ability to create some of the stuff I mentioned, and we can sell it at vendor tables, but there are no vendor tables at any festivals because this ability came in Eco Lifestyle instead of the base game. This same issue will also apply if they ever decide to give us bands, stages, and carnival/fair items. I'm sure some of it has to do with ensuring the game can run on more PCs, but I also see it as the limitations we face due to EA's approach to DLC. We only get surface level because everything has to be chopped up into separate DLC that prevents thriving, cohesive experiences.

Yeah, vendor table with jungle adventure too.

Exactly. I wish a modder would release a mod that turns festival notifications off.

I wish they had a place either on the calendar that came with seasons or elsewhere that showed when every festival in each pack you own is. It is better if I can preplanned for the festivals.
  • They were a disappointment for sure but at least i knew how they were before i bought the pack so they were not a selling point in the end. To be fair, i find most of the festivals boring and empty in this game. I would like more ones for families and also more unique activities.

Festivals in this game are so uninspired, boring and honestly, useless.

They should take a note from Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons and Stardew Valley when it comes to festivals. In those games, festivals are so exciting because there are exclusive items and content you can get that you can’t get anywhere else. A good portion of them also feature fun, unique mini-games with great prizes, too. I wouldn’t mind having special mini games in The Sims — I think it’d make it a lot of fun.

Imagine if Seasons shipped with two festivals per season. Each takes you to an exclusive lot to participate in mini games and shopping. Egg hunt/gardening festival in spring, surfing/submarine expeditions in summer, trick or treating/harvest festival in autumn, and toy delivery/winter festival in winter. Just sounds far more exciting to me, anyway.

Oh how I miss the minigames from TS2. What I would give to smooze that darn headmaster again.
