I just need two more fish for this challenge I'm doing and this game is going out of it's way to make sure NOT to let me get them with nonsense like this. Girl is level 10 fishing. How much more skill do they want her to have? This game gets on my nerves sometimes lol

I have found , in my game, no cc or mod, that using the 🐸 rarest frogs 🐸will give the rarest fish I need to complete the fish collection I am currently working on. I also read that some of the larger fish are needed as bait to get some of the rares. I have not tried this myself, not yet anyway. Still going through the frogs! 🤪 I have gotten rares in locations I normally do not fish and secret locations too. The weather in my game, I love, but this season, in my game, we are having an extremely cold fall!!! Cannot fish as it is too cold. This is the 1st time I have experienced this freezing cold in the fall week, I only need 2 rare and 1 uncommon fish to complete the collection. Game has provided another challenge in my efforts or is it that the games way of saying "wrong location" or "not yet". I have been trying to complete 20 collections in 1 family unit! As I get near to completing one, I have noticed that is always gets more difficult, near frustration sometimes, to complete them but 🤭I love the challenge!!!!! Oh, both sims have 10 fishing skill too. edit: I wonder if having been or actually being in the fishing career makes a difference??? I think it's nice that the game has designed the game to have challenges. imo

Has she tried fishing in the cavern off the park in Oasis Springs? She'll need level 10 handiness to get in. I seem to recall there are a couple types of fish there that you can't find elsewhere.

I'll keep trying. It does seem that way with these collections. But then again, this is the first time I've ever attempted to complete a collection. I know the Wolf Eel that she needs uses frogs for bait and the other fish is the Red-Tailed Black Shark, which uses small fish for bait. They are elusive as heck. XD

I hope that your sim will soon be able to catch the last 2 fish that she needs for the challenge. If she isn’t already doing this, using bait that suits the type of fish she is trying to catch may help.

Yup, the very old long ago glitch. I don't even remember if that was back in 2015 or 2017. However, I think it was long before Island Living came out. Personally, after playing Sims 4 for over 10 years, I don't wonder anymore if it makes sense. After all, it never did. There was always weird glitches, cowplants, green human sims, woohoo in Rocketships, and that was just in Base back in 2014.🙃🤪

GameGirl2168a just wanted to show you what I encountered yesterday, which ironically is the 1st time this has ever happened, the 1st time fishing in Sulani after adding For Rent, the day before, all on a new save. wanted them to fish from the dock, but they swam to the boat, both did, 1 entered and immediately started fishing, the other... confused. I wish I knew why it works for you and not for me! recall i have no cc or mod either. It's the swimming to a boat that has never happened before having For Rent.

rujuta4me I think you mean electric eel, not wolf eel. The electric eel is the one specific to Selvadorada. The wolf eel is base game.

FairyHappy22 Do you own the Strangerville Pack? The Red-Tailed Black Shark swims in the fishing hole in Shady Acres, in addition to Oasis Springs.

I wish I could explain it as well, rujuta4me, but I have no idea why certain bugs hit some players and not others. I, also, play 'vanilla' sims - no cc or mods, so always thought that might have something to do with it. (Actually only installed my first mod a few days back: on that allows you to place items on top of the rolling kitchen counter, from Kitchen Clutter kit.)

BissenNess I read your post yesterday, last night I looked in my game and you are absolutely correct! 😁 I have a screen shot in my game folder to prove it indeed was the electric eel I got from the jungle! I saw the electric eels in Willow creek, in all the locations I fished in yesterday! Not one wolf eel! 1st day of spring and waters were crystal clear!! Thanks for point that out.

FairyHappy22 red-tailed shark, oasis springs, near cave entrance. I think it varies. I never got one in "stangerville".

I just did this. Haven't tried in ages and I thought I would never complete it. But, I did. It was that Red Tailed Shark that was so elusive. It takes small fish for bait. It seems like as your Sim skill improves, the amount of junk they catch goes up and it takes longer and longer to catch an actual fish. But, maybe it just felt that way. Good luck.

I think this is just a generic reply that the game gives when you are having trouble catching a certain fish. Usually this is due to low skill level, in which case this popup makes sense. In more rare cases, it is due to you trying to catch a really tricky fish, which makes this popup ridiculous! I wish there were popups that were more tailored to what you are actually doing in the game. I can completely understand why you are frustrated. 😓
