It mostly seems to be from not having their wants fulfilled even though I take the time to do this so that they're not stressed all the time. Each time I do this though it just seems to last for 10 minutes before they're stressed over not having them fulfilled again. :D My current Sim has just failed Uni because I spent too much time on this but she was getting too stressed to do any of her work. I do play with the Slice of Life Mod if that's anything to do with it?
Once a sim has the fear of unfulfilled dreams, you might have to take another action to remove the fear.
Do you get this pointy thought bubble? These are related to the fears. If you hover over them, it will give a hint as to how to remove the fear.

You can look in your sim's traits panel to see if they still have the fear or if they got over it, regardless of whether there are any tense/angry moodlets active at the moment (bottom right hand corner, head icon). Having a moodlet go away doesn't mean they got over the fear.
This sim has the Fear of Unfulfilled Dreams as you can see in the trait panel. No fear-related moodlets are active at the moment.

I haven't used Slice of Life but does it affect moodlets or UI elements? That could be a factor. Maybe someone else who uses it could be more help.
