Off The Grid Living

I have a basic house ready to go (No bathroom, kitchen appliances, tv, computer and only the oil lamp) and I'm going to swap in some new stuff when I place it. It's amazing how easy it was to get a small starter when not having to worry about big electronics. I might go back and add in a fire pit, a fireplace will not fit (I've deliberately made it small).

I am hoping for this too. A isolated place for away from hectic modern day life is ideal for writing. Even without the off the grid trait, it would add a nice old fashioned touch to the game.

Possible problems:

-Antidotes only via computer?
-Medicine also I think computer and maybe phone?
- Services via phone and buying things via computer in general
- Writing (should have typewriter or notebook or something id live for old looking cool typewriter tbh)
- making some of the meals without fridge and stove because there is no option to make those without even if its a salad

I was thinking about medicine and illness, and not being able to use the phone, if this is what happens. What you can do if you have Outdoor Retreat, there is a herbal potion for illnesses that a sim could make.

Medicine - Herbal remedies if you have OR installed

Writing - Private journals if you have Parenthood

Food - Cooler/Fire-pit

Services - Off the grid normally don’t call for services, but if you consider it.

off the grid does not necessarily mean one type of ''off the grid''
because it is just put it plainly living without water and electricity

so in sense of having normal household that simply does not have electricity or plumbing
you could still want to have maids and gardeners for example that people used to have in old times
when water and electricity 100% was not a thing

also it shouldn't be necessary for your sim to own computer or phone to have access to medicine, food and services
there should for example be somewhere to buy those items aside from buying them on phone

+ not all players have OR and Parenthood so there also should be options for those players to use because it is base game update
you don't just say hey you can live off the grid but actually you can't because all the objects are still in other packs you do not have

like there should be something in base game you could use to write that is not computer
and also as some of the meals they put for fridge and stove do not require owning fridge and stove (irl)
they should be possible to make without owning those

like I hate this logic in game where you have to have phone and you can't buy certain items without having phone or computer that however are vital for your sims survival like antidotes for example

I think they should rather make it a ''theme'' like how we have those ''boho'' or ''gothic'' or whatever so you could toggle it

The one thing I won't miss is the many calls and text messages my Sims get during the day. And once my Sims go into another lot will they have dozens of text messages to read? LOL This happens to me whenever I decide to turn off my phone and take a break so I'm wondering if this will happen with my Sims.

I have a ton of ideas on how I will play around with this lot trait. At first, I thought about using it with my conservationist Sim but since they will need to have their cell phone active in order to receive the option to work at home or go into the office, what kind of workaround will we have to use? If researching on the computer has to be done as a daily task, my Sims can use the laptop at a community lot. I guess I will have to build an island coffeehouse afterall, which actually sounds like a fun idea.

Really love how this sounds! And I agree it might be nice to go back to the basics for some things - especially because without having to pay for utilities your sims don't constantly need to go out and work, so they can actually fully focus on raising their tods, fishing, swimming, etc. :D
