Okay, The Parents Can't Figure Out What They're Doing!

I get back into my game today, and the Toddler, Andrew is hungry and tired. So, I have his Dad give him food. Well, the usual hesitation issue kicks in. It takes forever for the dad to move. I end up using the Toddler Help command and it gives the menu for what the parent can give the child. I chose PB & J sandwich. The kid isn't eating it. Then I see it's a Ham & Cheese. No matter. Still later on, when I check it, magically (and since I have no magic in my game) it's now labeled as a Holly sandwich. :open_mouth: Yes, they have Holly bushes in their garden, but this is the first time I've seen a sandwich made from one. Poor little kid. First, Father Winter refuses his request for a gift, and now his dad is giving him a flower to eat! This is very bizarre. All I can think of is one of the mods I'm using must really be messing things up. Bye-Bye SOL. Last one installed, must be the culprit.
  • UPDATE: Very weird, seems everything is a holly bush. I clicked on a grade school work book and it said Holly Bush. Saved, exited and will clean out the localthumbcache.package before I uninstall SOL, just in case. This is one weird day.
  • I'm sorry but I can't help but laugh. Andrew gets slighted by Father Winter and now everything is holly. It seems like Father Winter is trolling the poor toddler. :D

Now that that's out of my system, I've had this issue in the past but it's been so long, I can't remember what I did to fix it. It was probably like you said, clearing caches.
  • Learn something new everyday. Had to look up what the localthumbcache.package was, but it looks like it could be contributing to some minor bugginess I've noticed lately, especially in build mode. Around 1,800 hours on Sims 4 with a lot of mods installed and uninstalled and can't recall ever deleting the cache. Will give it a shot, thanks!

I cleared that localthumbcache.package and all is well. I will add that any time you add or uninstall a mod/cc you should make it a habit to clear the localthumbcache.package. Otherwise little bits of the mods will remain. It can cause a bit of havoc.

I had little Andrew open a gift, since the small pile is still next to the tree. The first one was a pile of pooh, and he was none too pleased. The second one was a really nice arts and craft table, that he won't be able to use until he ages up. Poor kid can't win for losing. What a little sad sack in the making, eh?

I feel so bad for the little guy. This could be the start of a supervillain origin story though.

So pulled out the localthumbcache.package which was 53mb (the new one started at 1k) and it seems as though the lagginess I was starting to get in build mode (and upon exiting build mode) as well as sims taking longer and longer to react as gone away. So thanks again for that tip :)
  • Good, I'm so glad it helped you. I like to clear the localthumbcache.package before I play each and every time.
