But when I fired it up for the first time, I almost cried thinking about all the hours of work I just lost. Thousands of hours along with eight saves plus the new save I had created just for GT. Gone. All of it is gone.

As disappointing as this might sound, I think you should play it safe and not play the current save you have for Erik until all your mods are updated. While waiting for that to happen get to know everything about the new update and GT in a new save you can always delete later. I know how much work has gone into your current Erik save and I would hate to see you forced into yet another do over. Copy that Sims4 folder and put it someplace safe. Don't make the same mistake I did in not protecting my hard work and blowing up my game. :/

First let me say I'm very sorry to hear of what happened to your game. And to let you know that just yesterday morning I made a copy of my entire Sims4 game folder and placed it on a flash drive. :) See? Even at my advanced age, I can still learn things. :) I've also made another copy of it, so that I can have a vanilla copy of Erik & Company and one that is modded. After the fiasco of an Event, yesterday, I'm almost willing to play it over in vanilla. I'm seriously wondering if the mods I use are drastically interfering with MWS. We'll see how it goes. The event was held on Monday of the week, in game, and the Big Event is scheduled for that Thursday. We have only today and tomorrow before the Patch drops. I have preordered GrT (as another player posted it). Wanting the bassinet from that I will likely time the advent of their first baby to fall on the day of release. Wish me luck. And if the proverbial stuffing hits the fan, and I do have to start over. I will simply take them back to live with their parents enabling me to set up the family dynamics in CAS. I'm just really wishing to play with Infants, though. So, I'm going to do my best to keep good thoughts. Thanks.

It is my express wish that you are able to recover from your disaster and sometimes starting again with a beloved Sim can be fun. The game rarely plays out the same way twice, which can lead to a different (partially) storyline. Best of luck and I wish you many happy babies in your gaming future.
