One thing I don't understand about Sims

I actually like the quirkiness of relationships and the unrealistic/inappropriate insertion of random townies into my sims lives.  However now that it's been brought up, if townies are going to prank call me everyday in between asking for relationship advice then I think they can take my call at 2 am when my social needs are low.  "I thought we were friends, Eliza!"🤔

You know, if you have questions about your love life, promotions, dreams or general chit-chat, the dev team are here for you! Their number is; [REDACTED] x)

"Hi. We have never met (because you put "private dwelling" on your front door), but would you like to go to the Moonlight Revelry together? We can get naked and everything..."

Ha, yes, can totally relate to that! I mean, these calls make sense if the other Sim is a friend or maybe a co-worker, but some casual acquaintance? Why would I be interested in their love lives? Also, most of the time I have no idea who the other Sim is they're yapping on about. The same goes for phone calls informing me of how a very dear friend of mine has died recently - you know, those pop-ups in the top right corner. Most of the time I find myself going "Wait, who was that? 🤔"

What I find really annoying about that feature, though, is when one of my own Sims calls the one I'm currently playing (I play rotational with multiple households, all on the same save) and asks if hanging out with yet another Sims is a good idea even though that Sim is in a relationship/married, or they both are 🙄Of course, the answer is always "no" because one, you're married! Two, no one gets to interfere with my Sims' love life but me 😁Same goes for families. If you don't want a Sim to start a family, never click "Go for it" or "You should decide that for yourself" when they call you and ask whether or not they should start a family. It's how one of my households ended up with a kid because the Sim I was playing at the time told them "decide for yourself", which they did 😁

Here's a hack I've found useful, if you own Get Together. If you start up a new club, you can use the club system club requirements to quickly find sims in the save that have qualities your sim wants in a friend or SO. For example, if you want to hang out with someone who's unmarried, young adult, a competent dancer and loves the outdoors, you can select those four criteria. Then you click on one of the vacancies in the club and it will show you a list of all the single young adults in the save who can dance and love the outdoors. Takes the trial and error out of getting to know townies.

A vampire is a freeloader in the living world...

They own whatever they want...they have been around the circle of life twice. 

Vampires are extremely romantic and lonely after seeing all their friends die year after year for thousands of years...They deserve a little hospitality from the neighborhood. 

If you are nice...they don't drain your life...but they could be an occult friend for life and give you the gift of immortality for a price.

Imagine if you moved into a new place, a welcome wagon came, and then all of a sudden someone you've only talked to once is saying "Hey, this person you've never met and I like each other, should we go out on a date."  I would be like "It's up to you... I've gotta go now, my goldfish is drowning."  It's just weird. 

I know right!  He's a vampire, he should be up.

One thing that is often good to do when starting a new household is to befriend some sims that you want to meet and talk with, because otherwise the game will pick the first sims you encountered (like the neighbor during the welcome wagon) for some of the social features like asking to stay over and or ask you about someone they would want to befriend or date.

Sims calling you asking you about someone they should befriend, date or propose to was an update to the neighborhood stories system. It's a way for you to control what other sims do, the idea is not bad but it can feel a bit... weird. I have a mod from bienchen which disables it (sims4me_NS_romance_disabled).

What's not to understand? It's the Sims. 😄
