Open Neighborhood Rather than Open World
In TS3 the entire world was open and i think this contributed to difficulty running the game. In TS4 the active lot and a portion of the neighborhood within the world is open. I'm not sure if this can...

That's the one thing I do like about 3. I find it harder to do that with 4 when I can see the sims at home need bars are tanked. Sometimes they fix them themselves but always when I get back to the hole lot, if it's late at night every sim, elder, adult, child or toddler or teen will be out of bed. So you have to do the whole putting them to bed routine.
It's funny because I do that too. I will be off with one sim, having the work or collect things, forgetting about the others in the family. And for the most part, they are fine. And I love that. It's a hard habit to break when playing Sims 4. I want to switch from one family member to the other, and then I remember that I can't.
Another thing that really gets me is the fact that sims left on the home lot are frozen. At least with Sims 2 there is the community lot time mod, and when you return to the lot time passes and things go on. I hope someone makes a mod like that for Sims 4. Having a free flowing open world is so much funner in the long run.
