Love open world. I play all the families. No ghost towns. No lag, no drag. And rabbit holes? So what. Least my town has a grocery store.
To be honest with you, I never saw what the big deal was with the whole hating rabbit holes. I like them, they are useful and sure, it would have been cool to have clothing stores but could you not build you own, a 'visitors allowed' community lot with the clothing rack objects?
I much rather have my Sims change at home as in TS1, rather than TS2 where you had to send a Sim out to buy new clothes every time they aged up or you just wanted to change what they were wearing. Then again, TS2 you had to get past a loading screen each time you went out so even if TS3 had clothing shops, I doubt they would be as tedious.
As for workplaces in rabbit holes, who would want to see your Sim in the business career sitting at a deck all day anyway? Ambitions gave us active careers followed by more in later EPs and at University Life you had 50/50. Some lectures took place in rabbit holes (good chance to build up energy by sleeping in class BTW) and then others where in the lecture room or using their objects.
As for no active restaurants in TS3, maybe try the Store, they have a restaurant there, and it is cheaper getting it that way than in an EP ;)
The Sims 3, it is happening now!
