Opinion Rant: I think I just found a reasonable reason why we are not getting Snow Depth.

"I changed the title to a new one because I just realized what I am really about to say" All of these are just my opinion, I just want y'all to know that I'm just being optimistic on this EP. But...

They never claimed the snow depth was about a trade off or focusing on other areas. They said that the visual quality of TS4 is higher than other versions and they couldn't find a good way to do snow depth and have it up to TS4 visual standard.
