I’ve had no crazy added issues even with sims living in the new world as that seems to be the trigger for the awful lag among other issues. It’s so player dependent it’s absolutely crazy what some will have problems with while others don’t. I had a sim move to the new world a while ago and had zero issues with crazy amounts of lag or households being created by the 100s. Haven’t checked that save in a while but played in the new world for a bit with them and nothing buggy happened. The lag is triggered by the extreme amount of households I believe so you’d notice if it was a problem. Only thing I noticed was an increase in general lag in the new world but nothing awful. The world is very lush in some areas so I think that’s part of the slight lag I have.
Most of the new gameplay is not locked into the new world so it’s super enjoyable beyond that. I travel to the new world for anything that is specific to it and that has yet to cause any problems. So you may have issues and you may not. However I’d imagine a sale on it in a few months at most if you were more comfortable waiting.
