Orange Triangles

Am putting this here as I don't think this is a game bug/glitch as such. I put an old save not played for a few years into my current saves folder. All flies involved were put in. It launched, but every lot - residential, empty, community - has an orange triangle with white ! mark. Did not try to enter any of them. Any idea what that means? No mods or CC in that game installation.
  • I think it means that the building is "incomplete". I had this issue when the "Sharing is Caring" N.A.P. was active in Oasis Springs. Turns out that one of the toilets in the Solar Flare lounge had been stolen, and I had an awful job getting back into the building to fix it. Assuming you can get into the building, check the lot requirements to see what's missing and replace the object.
  • That sounds familiar actually. I had one instance with a specific lot in Evergreen Harbor where a warning icon was present on map view over the lot. If I tried to enter it, an error code would pop up. Maybe the save is corrupted or just simply outdated since as you said, you haven't played the problematic save for a few years?
  • Am inclined to think corrupted, or at least broken. I have game saves on a different machine that are just as old, even older, that launch just fine. I have a lot of game files, so I cluster them in folders for playing rotationally.

What makes me think corruption is that a while ago, I forget when, I discovered that a lot of files in the current at the time save folder and the tray folder had an X in the icon at the far left of the file name. All the tray files had to be replaced (good thing I have two TS4 installations on different machines, though at different content levels). Games were started fresh, the victims being set aside. This past weekend decided to do a test on one of them. I have no idea whether the game or Microsoft is the culprit. A shame, as there were some interesting games and sims in those files.
  • I have always been able to enter build mode from the map view even when a lot is marked as incomplete (with the triangle and exclamation point symbol you describe). You just can't travel there with a sim. You should be able to enter build mode from the map and check if anything is missing from the required list.

I have had issues with kleptomaniac sims stealing objects that are needed for the lot to function (this can happen even if you don't have Eco Living's NAPs). I ended up using one of LittleMsSam's mods to ban kleptomaniacs from most community lots.
  • It means incomplete lot. I ran into this issue recently when looking at old lots to update. For some reason, many of my lots from old saves no longer had all the required items.

It could be corrupted but for me, the icon you are describing meant it was an incomplete lot. Try loading the lot and reading what the drop down menu states.
  • Thank you. It's not coming up as a game to launch, so I either moved it back into the standby folder or deleted it. The info you all have provided may well come in handy as that folder of old saves is quite large and I occasionally bring one or two over.
