Our personal dreams for TS4
For years, I've typed until my fingers cramped about the improvements that I wanted to see for the Sims in TS4. The game could also benefit from many more activities and functional objects. Since it seems that the game will be around indefinitely, I thought that I would make a list of the activities and objects that my personal dreams, as a Sim player, are made of:
Restaurants:
Fair ground objects and miscellaneous entertainment:
Restaurants:
- New styles of booth seating that actually work
- Fast food restaurant items, such as functional fryers (a commercial as well as a countertop home version), soft-serve ice cream machines, or self-serve soda fountains
- A teppanyaki style food station that seats at least four with accompanying tea or rice wine drinks. There can be more than one functioning station on a lot and Sims shouldn't have to pay to man them.
- A functional sushi/sashimi station that seats at least four with accompanying tea or rice wine drinks. There can be more than one functioning station on a lot and Sims shouldn't have to pay to man them.
Fair ground objects and miscellaneous entertainment:
- A ticket booth that works along with any existing gate, door, or archway
- More arcade machines such as whack a mole, a claw machine, pinball
- A photo booth
- A Dance, Dance Revolution type of game for two
- Fair booths for two or more, such as a water pistol target shoot or a coin toss
- Carousel
- Customizable roller coaster with cars for two.
- A mini Ferris wheel -- the kind that can be rented for a block party or a local fair
- A bouncy castle for at least two children (a rare risk of failure and deflation would be great)
- A trampoline for at least two people
- Jump rope for a single Sim and a double dutch group activity
- board games and chess sets that may be placed on any table
- shuffle board, lawn bowling (portable and can be placed anywhere that the item will fit)
- A variety of pool tables (fancy and busted) with the option for high skill Sims to perform trick shots and hustle opponents with the possibility of a fight/lost relationship points as a result.
- Kite flying
- Additional boat types that fit at least two people: row boat, paddle boat, swan boat, sail boat
- Surfing
- Windsurfing
- paddle board
- Remote-control boats for all ages
- multi-purpose lots
- A functional cash register
- Functional displays for vegetables/fruits/meats/cheeses, etc. (base game grocery venue)
- Functional items for hair/nail salons such as shampoo, conditioner, and nail polish displays; posters, and wig/extension displays where Sims may browse and buy items
- A functional shampoo sink
- A sit down manicure station
- A clothing rack (TS2 style) that allow Sims to buy separates and to browse, buy, and create new outfits, instead of being forced to buy what a mannequin is wearing.
- A changing booth (without walls, preferable)
- Functional accessory displays: shoes/jewelry with a cute option for an engaged couple to purchase wedding rings together. (Option to quarrel and disagree, based on trait compatibilities).
- Functional electronic displays. Particularly a way to buy customized mobile phones of different makes and models, such as alternatives to the outdated brick phones. (New Sims, created in CAS, do not automatically receive cell phones)
- Functional seed, soil, and fertilizer displays for a gardening center
- Log rolling
- Axe throwing
- Craft stations such as a pottery station, sculpting station, glass blowing station, and stringing beads for the kiddies
- Group music lessons ("This one time, at band camp...")
- A scavenger hunt activity in order to complete leaf/flower collections with accompanying pressed leaf/flower items as a result. (One object with different swatches, please.)
- A drum kit
- An electronic bass
- A flute
- A clarinet
- A saxophone
- A trumpet
- An upright bass
- A cello
- Cars
- Motorcycles
- Scooters
- Electric Bikes
- It would be great if handy Sim adults could perform hobby-type maintenance activities on all of the above and teach teens and kids how to do them, too. I hope that the Sims could actually demonstrate and not stand five feet away while teaching.
- Horses! And all the equipment that owning a horse entails. Plus riding lessons, competitions, and careers (Equestrian/Horse Breeder)
- Miss Mary Mack
- Paired string games
- Tag
- Group games such as London Bridge, Ring around the Rosie, One Potato, Two Potato, musical chairs, Duck, Duck, Goose!
- Hopscotch (As a drawn outline, please, not a mat. Pluse one that is professionally painted for a playground and one chalked by the kids with several swatches for each)
- A marbles game that can accompany as many as four players. Plus marble collecting and trade. (pavement or dirt versions)
- Skelly game boards (a professionally painted one for playgrounds and an amateurish chalk-style for home). Along with a new skill for kids to craft their own Skelly pieces from bottle caps and trade.
- A playground slide
- A seesaw
- Spring riders for toddlers
- A swing set for toddlers
- Children's bicycles
- Tricycles and push carts for Toddlers
- A pram and stroller so that babies and toddlers can travel with family members in style
- A backpack style carrier for babies.
- More model kits that can be completed at a regular desk. Such as dinosaur skeletons, model cars, etc.
- Changing table with bathtub
- Diaper pail
- Bottle warmer
- Functional Mobiles
- A play mat for tummy time
- A carrier seat that can be place on a floor or table so that newborns can safely be in the midst of family activities
- A musical swing to lull babies and toddlers to sleep
- A variety of cribs and bassinets styles for anything from tiny homes to grand palaces. My dream for a very poor Sim family would be a cushioned packing box or a functional dresser that also has a drawer that serves as a temporary bassinet for baby -- just until the family can do better.
- The ability for a parent to recline on a bed/lounger or sit on a chair/rocker/ or sofa to feed a baby. Standing every time is a drag and not at all helpful for storytelling.
Beach and lake activities
Retail:
Day camp, sleep-away Camp, and Crafting camp activities
Additional Musical Instruments
Transportation:
Activities on the above list should be for all ages, other than those that are inherently dangerous for children, such as glass blowing and axe throwing. Bring back foot stools for the kids so that they may enjoy a variety of activities, too!
Specifically for the kids:
Nursery items and activities for a real Sims baby
Finally, if there's a limit to how many functional item that can be included in a pack, I'd like to see a suspension on new bar equipment, children's activity tables, and food kiosks. There's a pretty good variety of those already. New items are needed.
I dream big and this list is huge. Although, it's far from exhaustive. What are your dream activities and objects?
