yeah and tile or stone tops every dang time
I haven't even ever seen tile top in real life come on
I was hunting for the exact swatch in picture too (with wood freaking top)
but it seems not this time either
I have a stone counter top in real life. Well - "faux marble" - a type of fake marble that has plastic melted in granite like patterns alongside glass and stone (it actually cost us more than real granite because it's dangerous to work with when cutting it - but safer to own).
These are popular now because they're non-porous; the safer to own aspect. That means no contaminates seeping into the marble, granite or wood. Wipe it down, and it's clean. You can wipe a wood or real marble counter top all day long, even with bleach, and bacteria will still set in. I believe granite, once properly sealed, is also non-porous.
In our bathrooms we use tile - and the grout between the tiles makes for a constant cleaning project because it will absorb contaminants. That said, it's a lot less of an issue to go cleaning your bathroom with bleach and such than doing the same in the kitchen.
I do think they need more variety in the game though. That other stuff is still in a lot of old homes and still being put in new ones even if it's not as safe.
Wood and marble/granite countertops are sealed and you can reseal them every now and then if needed. But sims don't have that problem and besides if they can make fake granite and stone, why not make also fake wood? We're looking for the wood aesthetic here which gives a warmer look to a home than granite.
