So my main Sim needs to own 10 masterpieces to advance in her career, previously she painted one masterpiece after another, but suddenly it stopped. Now she very rarely paints masterpieces, no matter ...

I just max my Sims' painting skill and make sure they're Very Inspired, with the Creative Visionary trait. You're not supposed to get masterpieces 100% of the time.
