Parenting Predicament Scenario - Issue w/eating objective

I like the new scenarios that come with a ready-made Sim/Family so, even though I've been playing for several years, these seemed easy and a quick way to get a reward. First one, no problem. This "Parent" one is getting on my last nerve. I can't move in this scenario because of issues with the call family to meal objective.

1. Had to end up moving any extra chairs from the dining/kit area.
2. Didn't stop the Sims from standing around and eating.
3. By the time the last Sim gets a plate, the first Sim is done eating and the game doesn't recognize this as a family meal. And yes, I get everyone down there before I use the Call Meal and Eat function.

I've done nothing but this stupid meal thing for about a Sim week and I'm frankly fed up. Any thoughts or ideas so I can move on?

Do you have the parenting pack? Maybe you could try setting the table, and see if that works. I haven’t tried this scenario yet.

Do you turn autonomy off and put them in a group? Make sure you pause the game and cue up all the actions for each family member first.

Do you have seasons? Those holiday meals (turkey, ham, etc) take longer to eat, so that might buy you some time for the last Sim to get a plate.

Have the parenting pack, it was T'Giving, I cued everyone into the kitchen first, tried cuing them to sit down, even put filled plates on the table, but they still didn't eat together... I grilled, I cooked other meals...then I moved on.

There's a grade issue in the next set of challenges, getting your child to a B. Both of my kids were A students before this part and 1 of them registered as completing that challenge but the other one didn't. Ugh.

I thought this was going to be an easy get and a relaxing way to have a more goal-oriented play than a "normal" family...but sheesh, I couldn't be more wrong!
