It's primarely three things for me:
1. It adds a continuity to the game, aka the clubs get auto-populated, people marry, have children, move around different households without you having to do it
2. It allows control over things like population size, turn on and off certain elements like bar nights, percentage of supernaturals, etc
3. It auto-enables a lot of cheats so you can shift click on any sim and edit them in CAS for example (good bye ugly townies!)
