PC to PS5

I have some health problems making it difficult to sit in a chair for a long time. Yesterday I talked to my family member that works in the gaming industry and a new PS5 is arriving in the mail in a couple days so that I can play in bed. Call of Duty is bundled with the PS5 and I really do want to branch out and try some new things, but I also want to play Sims on the PS5.

I see that Sims 4 basegame is free. I read that I cannot transfer my PC games to PS5. If that is outdated information, someone please let me know what my options are to transfer the games. I no longer mod Sims 4 so I think I might like it fine on console. I think it will be interesting to see what I can do on the free version alone. Does anyone know of any challenges that were created for Sims 4 Basegame console?

Can Sims 3 be played on PS5? I think I would only want to play it on PC, but I am curious to explore all my options.

I don't know what I don't know. If anyone has any advice or warning, I would appreciate any and all information and BTDT that anyone wants to share.

PC packs will not transfer to console. This hasn't changed.

I might get some hate for this but if you care about graphics, I would say TS4 on console is a mix of medium/high even with a large 4K TV. You'll miss out on ultra graphics if that's something you care about. Honestly a lot of people don't notice fine details like that and are fine with it but I figured it's worth mentioning.

As for a challenge... Achievements are tied to the account/profile and not the save file unlike PC. The trick is certain cheats will disable achievements. That's how I found just the BG on console to be fun was a hunting achivs.

    Spoiler
TS3 console version for playstation was on the PS3. From a quick Google search, it might be tricky to get it on PS5. Someone on Reddit said no not possible while other sources said buy the digital copy through the playstation store that will likely require a monthly sub to play. Or find a physical copy somewhere like eBay because it won't be at your local Walmart. I couldn't find the digital copy when I looked through the playstation store but that's because it gave results for all S4 packs & kits instead. Could be a gamble to thrift the physical copy if that's not going to work either. I see other search results saying PS3 games only work on PS5 if you can find the digital copy through the store making physical copies useless. So as you can see... mixed answers for playing TS3 on PS5. Maybe someone out there plays it on PS5 and will share how to do so.

You can always hook up your computer to your TV. Get a wireless keyboard, mouse, and headset. Something to place it on like a lap desk. But you mentioned a family member already purchased a console for you. Besides not everyone has that kind of space. Just an idea. :)
  • @SimplyJen Thanks so much for all this information. I don't know what I don't know and you have suggested things that I was did not know about at all or had not applied to Sims.

I just learned about backward compatibility yesterday. I will do some research about Sims 3!

I will need to learn more about monitors and TVs. Right now I am just hooking the PS5 up to the Fire TV that I already own, but I think I want to purchase another display for the bedroom so I can have the Fire TV in the living room.

I did not know the achievements are linked to my account rather than my save! Thanks for telling me that! I am still confused about my options to use cheats on console. I often cheat in the father winter trait combined with the cold acclimation cheat for one of my sims. When I stopped using mods, I started using more debug and cheats. I will only have basegame and will need to learn a new playstyle and come up with new goals.

I had not thought about adding a computer to the TV! Years ago I had a cheap Beelink mini PC attached to a TV. I would need something better with a decent graphics card, but you are giving me ideas. Thanks!

    Thanks for all the info!
