People are aware that the new SP requires an EP?

It has wording at the bottom that says it also requires the Cats & Dogs EP.

I mean, that will be a sore point if someone buys it and doesn't have the Cats & Dogs thing.

There is bound to be someone - you can see this happening from a trillion miles away.

This is a tad misleading. Not all of the features in the pack require Cats and Dogs.

You are right not all features require C&D but looking at EA Maxis strategy it may influence those that have yet to get C&D and if folks do wish or interested in the features that are not activated w/o C&D may in turn buy C&D.
The only thing that requires Cats & Dogs is for the outfits cat and dog beds a toy box for the cats and dogs and a feeding bowl otherwise it can stand on its own.

I don't see anything about this stuff pack that will influence somebody to shell out more for Cats&Dogs if they weren't planning to. At best it would push them over the edge to say yes because there's more pet stuff now. At worst it would put them off completely thanks to all the bad press. Reverse 'best' and 'worst' as you see fit.

Obviously EA would like you to buy C&D if you don't have it already. But the only persons who would be influenced, is somebody who is willing to shell out an extra $30 for a pack they weren't otherwise going to get - that contains animals they previously didn't care about using - to access all the stuff in the $10 pack when the only new Gameplay object could be fully accessed without it anyway. Which is so ridiculous that I refuse to consider it an intelligent argument for any reason. As for completionists, well, they would have bought C&D either way...

Like, pet clothes require C&D to use. If you don't have C&D, you won't see them, but you wouldn't exactly use them because you don't have the pets. Same for the pet bowls and beds. You can still decorate with them but your pets can't use them because you have no pets. The pack is smaller and less useful without, but it's far from forcing you to get C&D. After all, it's just Stuff.

Hey, it's perfectly possible that some people will buy it without realising you get the most out of it WITH C&D. But this pack is specifically aimed at people who own or plan to own C&D - it's a money-grub but EA isn't intentionally tricking anybody in its trailers. Such an act would be a mistake made by not watching a trailer or reading any reviews - no matter how gushing, they all mention this - in which case it's really your own fault.

Honestly, there's more in a pack like bowling influencing people to get Get Together (eg setting up bowling clubs - IF you like bowling) than there is in a pack like MFP influencing them to get Cats&Dogs.

What's the point in that? IF I didn't have C&D, I'd have a bunch of CAS and buy mode items that can only be used as décor, AND I'll bet none of them add décor value either. It would be like getting half a pack for the full SP price.

I have Cats & Dogs and what I am saying is people like furniture hair and new clothes so that is why they buy packs. The hamster doesn't require you to have the Cats & Dogs EP. For example if you only bought the Vampire GP for the stuff in it isn't that the same I mean the entire pack is the vampires not really the clothes world furniture and hair get my point.

  • It might just be the bit where the hamster gets eaten by a cat - ie you need a cat for the cat to eat the hamster.
  • The only people who are going to miss that not so little tidbit are people who didn't watch the trailer or go on any social media platform regarding the game.
  • It does require C&D to fully utilize this new SP, there's only 2 options for us; buy C&D and this new SP or don't buy this new SP if you don't own C&D ;)

That is what I am looking at if an person does not have access to Pets, what is the percentage of items that are needed to to be used with C&D. For me if it more than 50% that SP is basically a waste for me and not worth $10 for just a couple of items such as the fish tank and a rodent. If anything the SP will look like it is on crutches trying to hold up on its own.
