I agree. It makes sense for strays and makes you want to adopt them and care for them, but it shouldn't happen with pets that are part of a family. I think they did this in part so you'd have potential patients at the vet clinic, but this part should have been more like the hospital from Get to Work, where sims come in sick but aren't actually sick otherwise. It's not like it would cause problems for continuity, considering recently treated pets will still fall ill the next day when unplayed...
