Photography Studio At Home

Can someone open a Photography Studio inside their home as a business, or does it have to be in another place or building like in Magnolia Promenade? I would like to have my Sim be professional photographer and have a studio where he can have customers in his home. Is this possible?

The lot needs to be a business. You can live at the business with no issues, but you'd need to own a "real" residential lot somewhere.

You can take pictures of the sims using the photo studio (you'll have to invite them over), but you can't sell the photos.
