- LaBlue03147 years agoSeasoned AceI had one sim a while back complete it, She was an artist who was into both painting and photography, and she had an art studio. To fill the art studio with "students" I used the club system of Get Together. At the time I was attempting to get an art museum filled with paintings created by different sims but failed when something in the game would not retain the name of the painter who painted the painting.
This same sim would also invite different elderly sims over to her home to take their picture. Then after the sim passed away she would take their photograph and place it on a wall close to the urn. It looked very nice to set up in the cemetery and made it look a little more personal for the family. - I love photography! But I never actually "mastered" it... I always max out the photography skill using cheats because I need good quality on all of my pics :p
- Stina1701A7 years agoSeasoned AceNo mastery here but I have found it very useful. I discovered its usefulness when I was playing my BFF household I have seperated into apartment units (I exchanged the original building with an apartment building for 4 apartments) and discovered that in the lobby I could have a picture of each tenant, both past and present.
I also have discovered that having family photos and photos of friends is really great especially when a family member moves out or a household splits. Framed and unframed photos on a wall where the computer desks or work space is really gives a nice personal lived in feeling.
Now, I do have 2 Sims that well be photographers by profession but none of my Sims, those two included are no masters as of yet, and especially not me, as I am still struggling taking good photographs of toddlers without tearing out my hair. - Simmerville7 years agoLegendI love it, and most households use the cameras. I have a few sims working as photographers, but none of them ever maxed out the skill. Most photos are portraits. I try to to take photos of each generation.
Constantly worried there might be a set technical limit for how many photos each save can allow. Or how many photos a lot can handle before starting to lag. Oh, thew joy of not knowing! :) - I love photography in the game. It's sometimes tedious to get a great picture, especially when it's supposed to be a snapshot but it's so worth it. And I enjoy looking at them in the game.
One of my sims maxed out the skill as a teenager. He was always taking pictures, of his baby sister, his parents when they weren't looking. Ever since he was a kid. He started out with a lot of selfies, pictures with his friends etc. The walls in his room are cluttered with pictures he took. Now I want him to be a professional photographer. He just recently grew into a Young Adult so I can actually send him to move around different places and let him explore the neighborhoods, take random pictures, portraits etc. sell them for fame, make a name of himself and later settle down in maybe Brindleton Bay where he will open a photostudio.
I realize this plan makes me a sucker for the new stuff pack xD but I was always hoping the team would somehow expand that skill. - I like the skill and the studio they introduced in GTW, but haven't found much use for it yet. Like LaBlue0314 I have an artist Sim who mastered the skill for the sake of character building but that's all. Looking forward to try that career they promise in Moschino pack.
- I kinda like it and use it. Though, I usually cheat the skill up so I don't get gnomes or thumbs in important pictures.
But my self-absorbed actress that is part of my current played household, is slowly skilling it up herself from all of the selfies she takes. It helps that I also take all 5 pictures for each one so I'm sure one is decent. - I like that I can take photos for my sims to put up on their wall, but I really dislike the skill building - it feels sooo tedious. It's the only skill that I cheat to max straight away. I wish there were more options with the photo studio, with larger groups of sims, and mixed ages, and that it didn't have to be manned by a sim in the household to be able to take a photo. I also miss the photo challenges from TS3 where you had to go out and take photos of particular things and complete collections - that made it so much more interactive and interesting. TS4 version is literally just taking photos of my sims families to decorate the walls, but it's not something I 'enjoy'.
- I like photography because of the limited amount of wall decor/frames in build. So letting my sims go out in the world and take pics of their surroundings and friends gives their decor a little more variety.
- I wish that photography didn't make an image file every time you took a picture.
I mean, if I wanted a screenshot, there's a screenshot button.
And when I'm taking pictures, it's either to make some pocket change, or to decorate with the picture in item form.
I like to keep my image folder organized and clutter-free so I can make use of the limited "Memory" system that's still in the game.
An option for making actual image files when your Sim takes pictures with their camera would be nice to have.
