Plans for Life & Death?

What do you plan to do when you get the new EP?

My thought is this: I've never played my Simself. I've made one for a friend or to pose in a holiday screenshot. But maybe this time I will -- start out as an elder, do as much as I can before I die, have my ghost finish the unfinished business, and then be reborn to...the Landgraabs, or the Goths, or whoever won the lottery while I was alive.

Nervous is going to be a complete punk and daddy's number one sidekick when I play him in my game. Girls gonna hate on him.

  • I have a whole family of spellcasters, each with their own relationship to ghosts.

Salem is the child of a ghost hunter and a vet (who was revived from the dead and practices mediumship, FYI.) Salem uses his own mediumship skills to contact ghosts and write out their life stories. He's also the author of the Silence series of fantasy novels, which also delves into themes of the paranormal. Unfortunately, he's so engrossed with his writing that he often neglects his family.

He's going to fill out the Ghost Historian aspiration.

His wife is Clover, who's the daughter of an actor and a Mandalan* priestess. She and her siblings were trained in the ways of mediumship. She and Salem are childhood friends, as his parents would send him to the Temple Mandala to study mediumship every summer.

As a child, a spirit-summoning gone wrong left her with a curse that ate away at her body and soul. Unfortunately, no one was able to recognize it until after the birth of her first child. It's too late to cure her, and her time will soon be up. She was the one who suggested the family move to Ravenwood: she wanted to be somewhere where the veil between life and death is thin, so she could watch over her family. She wanted to watch them under her own power, instead of having to be summoned by her family.  She wants them to get used to not seeing her all the time, so they can eventually move on from her and live their lives.

Before her curse took a turn for the worse, Clover was a medical technician. Now, she's a stay-at-home mom who spends much of her time working on her garden.

For my playthrough, she's going to die and be a freeroaming ghost.

Their oldest child is Heather. With her mother's failing health and her dad's career, Heather stepped up and took responsibility for her brother. She juggles taking care of him with her cheerleading, volunteer work, and prepping for university. She's thinking of becoming a doctor. Like her parents, she has a natural affinity for the paranormal. She's not big into ghosts, generally just preferring to ignore them when she can. But she was a gifted medium and can handle wicked spirits if they come bothering her family.

She'll do the normal slice-of-life gameplay stuff I might feel like doing. Aside from that, she'll be improving her magic and handling Edith the ghost child, whenever the spirit gets too rowdy.

Finally,  Lane is the sim I'll be playing with the most. His mother's blood curse affecting him while he was in the womb. Due to the unique circumstances around his would-be death, the Grim Reaper took pity on the infant and resurrected him. Parts of his soul were already eaten away, so the Grim Reaper gave up pieces of his own soul to "fill the gaps," so to speak. This resulted in Lane having black hair and purple eyes. It also makes him the first-ever sim to have three biological parents. [Read: I'm going to cheat the Grimborn trait on him.]

Not that Lane knows about all this. Since he didn't have either of his parents' hair or eye colors, he believes he was adopted, and his parents were lying to him. It would explain why he has less mediumship skills than the rest of his family.

Lane is reserved and observant. He's made friends with many ghosts in town, and they'll often spy on people if he asks them. Since Lane doesn't like liars or injustices, he often teams up with the ghosts to solve mysteries, expose evil deeds, and get to the bottom of any weirdness in town.

For my playthrough, he'll collect Lady Ravendancer Goth's tarot cards. Maybe he'll build his own paranormal collection one day.

    * "Mandala" is a Tomarani religious group in my game. Mandalans practice Wellness and Mediumship to help foster their minds, bodies and souls.

  • I have a second plan. We all know the Goths are a bit...different. I have one save where Alexander is an elder and married to an adult and has two infants. His wife also has a YA daughter from an earlier relationship. Alexander and the daughter have amazing compatibility, and the daughter finds him attractive. So Alexander will become a ghost, finish his unfinished business, and be reborn as a YA in a different household. And maybe change his appearance because he's not very good-looking. Will he show up in the daughter's Cupid's Corner? Will she show up in his? And if sparks fly, will he tell her who he really is?

  • Im so excited for everything in this pack that i dont even know where to start lol but im probably going to design a nice kitchen with those counters first lol because i mostly like to build..... my plan for gameplay will be to build a victorian home, create a victorian family  and let them haunt the house when they die and ill keep the house up for the next generation to inherit and so on... im 100% going to do the whole grim lineage thing too.... super excited for the tarot reading as well. i have been wanting a pack like this for so long as a former goth girl lol who still reads tarot lol

  • I don't really have any plans as I like to see the world and items in game for myself first and afterwards decide how I want to incorporate the pack in my gameplay. I will certainly build something as I like to build, but I play with aging off and so my sims rarely die. I built a gypsy caravan a long time ago when Paranormal was released, now I might actually play a tarot fortune teller on the lot, especially that now we also have horses and it makes the caravans more realistic.

  • I plan to add some vampires to the misty neighborhood. I also want to visit the world to find the tarot cards and do Alice's quest.

  • I have one family that I might use as my main sims in the new world. But I also found Gallery sims from the first Beetlejuice movie, plus Mulder, Scully, and little Queequeg from the X-Files. Placed them all in game and play tested. Fun! 😁

  • I almost always play with my simself. I've got a current game where I'm fairly close to becoming an elder and I think this time I'll just let that, and what comes next, happen. Usually I turn myself into a spellcaster, vampire, or werewolf before I become an elder because I don't want to watch myself die but then I get bored with being immortal and stop playing it.

Longer term, I've started a save where, other than my simself and those EA sims I like enough to let into the save, every sim is a character from some sort of spoopy TV or movie (Ghostbusters, Buffy, Dark Shadows, the more spooky corners of the MCU, the Addams Family and the Munsters, etc). I say longer term because I want to makeover all the pre-existing sims and rebuild as much as I can to fit the theme. The odds are good I'll get bored with all the building, though, and just download a bunch of lots when people have uploaded enough of them.
