I don't think anyone is reacting negatively, I think it's more of a natural reaction. One that I'm sure EA/Maxis took into consideration.
The bottom line is EA/Maxis is a company like any other. They are in the business of making money. This is a great move for them as it exposes more people to an amazing game and offers an opportunity to make them profit.
For the users of the game, it no doubt extends the life of Sims 4 which is a benefit to us all. I am really happy that many new people will be exposed to the game.
It's really a win/win.
