You are correct, it is a video game but that didn't stop them from not putting in dog houses in the game because that was "inhumane" to keep dogs in a doghouse outside in RL. They can justify their reasoning for not including those but they're perfectly ok with sims wasting food because it's just "pretend food" in that same video game where we can't have dog houses?
They also deliberately felt the need to put in environmentally friendly "green living" things in a pack for that same pretend world in a video game but wasting food in that same video game is no big deal?
