Point of preorder?

Yeah I was pretty much wondering because like I understand when it’s like the physical copy and it can get sold out. But it would be weird if the digital copies would run out... it’s kind of a dumb thought but it was better to ask

EA/Maxis have always promoted expansion packs as a “New Game,” and typically new games are usually up for preorder.

Personally I preorder packs that I know I'll definitely want (such as Cats & Dogs) for a couple reasons. I'm awful with saving money so if I preorder it then I can get that out the way and know I'll not be scraping together money in November. Also, if I don't preorder it I'm constantly thinking about when it's going to get released and counting down the days. If I preorder, I can pretty much put it to the back of my mind and know that when it comes out it'll just be downloaded automatically. That being said, if I have any doubts that I want a pack I'll wait for the reviews and I only preorder if I'm 110% sure I'll be getting it regardless.

This only really goes for the sims EPs though as that's the only thing I've ever preordered without bonuses. I've preordered a couple other games that have had offers and bonuses (Life Is Strange: Before The Storm had a small bonus of an extra outfit choice and South Park: The Fractured But Whole gave me the first game totally free for preordering) so it makes sense then if you get something extra for it.

I preorder when it doesn’t hurt financially. That way I don’t stress leading up to the day it comes out and I have peace of mind that I’m good.

Lol I just bought it. It was like very impulsive... Cause why not!? That way I can feel like I can already play it

Preorder does have some advantages but it depends on what you ordering for it to be an benefit. Preorders sometimes comes with an bonus that is tangible or nontangible. It is up to the person to determine if the bonus is worth preordering. Also, preordering again for certain items guarantee you a copy and the one who did not preorder has to wait for the ones who preordered get theirs first. There are some disadvantages as well when the preorder is an digital and the service do not offer refunds on digital downloads

And they don't even have to bother waiting for a finished, polished game, they can give whatever and patch what's broken.

Not for Sims 4. It had early downloading only for the base game, and that wasn't playable early.

Actually, yes, for the Sims 4. If you pre-order, you do get it a day early and are able to actually play it a day early too, and it works for those other than just the base game, you just have to wait until it reaches the specific time listed near the game for you to be able to download and play. It worked when I pre-ordered City Living android Get To Work. I've pre-ordered Cats and Dogs too, and I'm able to play it today.

Cheyenne, do you mind me asking what country you're in? I'm in the US. I pre-ordered and am not able to play today. It says that I will tomorrow, so will it be at midnight?
