Pools are boring.

I built a community pool lot with the help of Backyard Stuff and those big slip n slides to add some variety. (It also saves me from having to build pools on residential lots, lol.) I put in the public showers from Outdoor Retreat, made a gazebo with a grill, and there's a lemonade drink tray that also came from Backyard Stuff that I put on one of the tables.

I agree a new pool pack would be nice though. :) But you can get creative. If you've got Get Together, you can even make a pool club and such. Didn't GT also come with group actions for the pool? It's been awhile but I thought that kind of stuff was shown off at the Bluffs in Windenburg or something.

I love giving my Sims a pool in my game, but I agree it would be nice to have more things for interactions with it. Although, there is more than what you have mentioned to do, for instance @TheGoodOldGamer's ideas and you're right by the way, GT does have group interactions for the pool. I made a club for the patients in my Asylum Challenge that included swimming and diving. They had a lot of fun with it, especially one guy. He loved to dive and every single time, he'd get out naked and then walk around looking all proud shocking all the other patients. lol

Sims can also sit by the pool and read or eat, talk (and I think kiss?) in the pool, swim laps, spash each other (as mentioned), they can teach their children to swim and if their bladder is low, even pee in the pool. o.O Gross, I know, but still it made me laugh the first time it happened in one of my saves. Oh, and if you have Seasons, there's a special day for a Polar Bear swim in the Winter. ;)

Pools are pretty, but I agree they're very boring. It really feels like a waste of space putting them on my lots. Even the animations for swimming aren't very fun to watch. Diving is pretty cool, but I wish there was more to do with them.

My sims change into their swimsuits, to sit on the edge of the pool to eat or watch tv, then change back to their everyday outfits when they get up. It's ridiculous.

Pools could totally use pool toys and more ways for your Sims to play - like ducking people.

Pools are a missed opportunity after another in TS4.
Only 2 packs out of I don't even know how many added anything to pools, Get Together and Jungle Adventure. Seasons was a big disappointment in this matter, with nothing at all for pools which is really odd to be honest. I don't know why they are always overlooked and why we still don't have basic interactions (kids' games, etc), nor basic pool(side) objects (lounge chairs, I am looking at you!).

I still place pools in many of my sims' homes though and I have a community pool that I place in all my saves. With the help of the slip and slides, the toddler's pool, the sprinkles, and such you can make a pretty decent (I am being generous here) community pool.

But yeah, I absolutely agree, pools need some love.

They can teach their children to swim? It's the first time I see this mentioned, how does it work? If it's true is really cool.

well you can throw a ball for the dogs into the water too..

Frankly I can't remember what they could do with pools in Sims 2 enough to compare.
I like that they can sit at the edge of the pool and talk to each other with their feet dangling in here in this iteration. I like that they can talk to each other while treading water and of course splash. I love the pool death sink it's pretty scary looking actually.
I agree we need more pool stuff and some more water interactions though. I'd love them to add a freestyle swim stroke especially. I think more will come eventually. Can't say I'm bored with it all though. They can take their time getting to that in my opinion.

I've been tempted to use the slip and slide in community lots.... but who the heck goes out to use a slippy slide? It looks out of place anywhere except a backyard. I like the sprinklers, but I wish we had actual play fountains like those seen in parks I try to put one of the fountain emmiters underneath them, but the sims just complain they can't get to the sprinkler.

I'm so desperate for lounge chairs, floaties, A SLIDE. PLEASE. I NEED A SLIDE.
Like, it makes me sad because I love pools so much RL, but they're so boring for sims. Why can't they play 'shark' in the water? Marco polo came with seasons in ts3. I also want my sims to be able to play that wrestling game where you get on someone's shoulder and try to push the other person down.

Where's the pool noodles and water guns.

This is why sims just flock to the computers to play games. Everything else is boring.
