Pops & Gigi, living their best retirement lives

I have probably mentioned before that I have had a sim for a while now, who I intend to play as sort of a heavily modified 100 Baby Challenge. Basically, she's going to be a single mom, with lots of kids, but the goal of being the best mom ever. Her household has been on hold, but now that we have Growing Together, it's the perfect time to move forward with that family. So I decided to add Elder parents for her in CAS and move them into their own home.

They are basically your dream grandparents. They are both Family Oriented and Loyal; Gigi is Neat, Pops loves the outdoors. Her hobbies are baking, knitting, and cross-stitching; his are fishing and woodworking. Their house is cozy as can be, with a fireplace, a piano, a pool, a big kitchen, lots of toys, etc. Perfect for grandkids to visit.

Well, I didn't actually expect to actively play their household that much, but I had a couple of days left until Winterfest Eve, so my plan was to actively play them for a couple of days just to build their relationship and build some of their skills, and then have their daughter invite them for a five day stay beginning Winterfest Eve. I also figured I could age the newborn granddaughter up to an infant on Winterfest, or the day after, so they would be there for the birthday party.

It all started off very normally. When I first open a household, I often have the family members hug each for a quick relationship boost before beginning the other actions I have queued up for them. So in this case, I had Gigi hug Pops, and then I had planned for her to run to turn on the thermostat, and him to start a fire, before they both changed into their indoor clothes, selected an umbrella, made some hot tea, etc.

Well, I turn around for five seconds, and the next thing I know, Pops is leading Gigi into the closet for a makeout session! :D

Turns out, Pops is suave as hell, and he's constantly coming up and flirting with Gigi while she's cooking dinner. or offering to massage her shoulders while she knits, and she's making googly eyes at him and giggling all the time. It's so adorable. (As it happens, Pops is also pretty good at autonomously cleaning up after his own dishes, which is always an attractive habit in a man. He might have to give some life mentoring to their neighbor, Bob Pancakes.)

Anyway, long story short: These two are quickly becoming my new faves. Eventually I realized that it's because I gave both of them Likes for affection and physical intimacy. It's almost overpowered... like it might be too much if either of them also had the Romantic trait... but as it is, it really brings new life to those personal interactions. So this household definitely falls into the "win" category for me for the new gameplay.

Yes, I love one of my older couples too, they have kids and grandkids, and I haven’t updated them with family dynamics or compatability yet, but I always thought they were so cute together. I keep my game with aging off most of the time and play rotationally. But this couple I have played a lot since I moved them out, first with a hunting dog in Brindleton Bay, then into HOB so they could have a farm as well as a greenhouse.

Well... this story certainly took an unexpected turn.

I was just playing another family and accidentally clicked on Neighborhood Stories. What do I see? "Pops and Gigi are expecting a baby." :o

Now, this shouldn't be possible, because:

    • Pops and Gigi are both Elders; and
    • I have Neighborhood Stories completely turned off for both played and unplayed households. Also, I previously had Neighborhood Stories turned on for unplayed households but even then "Have a baby" was disabled. So this shouldn't be possible. At all.

So... whew. The friskiness factor from Growing Together is tuned up a little too high.

(Before anyone asks, nope, no mods.)

I think Pops and Gigi will be lovely and unique parents ☺

I did have to think back through whether I might have received one of those pop-up calls, but I'm pretty sure I didn't. Their household was the last one I played, a few weeks ago, and then this weekend, I got the notification just a couple of hours into playing a different household. Apparently I can't leave them unsupervised for any time at all. :D

I did decide to go with the flow, instead of exiting without saving. I'm curious to see how it will play out.
