Not everyone who criticizes TS4 after playing a trial is comparing it to past games They are just stating what they don't like about it. In my experience, it's everyone ELSE who decides that they must be comparing it to TS3.
Also, apart from the whiny comment none of her other words were directed toward the OP, but toward this forum in general.
Then again, I've also stopped visiting here much because I find the game to be a hopeless cause. So I suppose we're both feeling a bit of fatigue toward all the nonsense that constantly gets spouted about.
I can understand the frustration about some serious misrepresentations about sims 3 (like when some simmers say they have a 20-minute loading screen, lol!) and so on, but I still feel that is not an excuse to be rude about simmers in general.
Of course everyone compares Sims 4 to Sims 3 (or 2 or 1)! Who can blame people for doing it so much? Because that's what a lot of simmers do so much on these forums, even in the Sims 3 utopia forums (where some simmers still mention the existence of Sims 4 and talk crud about it, so even there, there is still comparisons being made).
I think it's fine to disagree with someone's polite opinion, but I still don't feel it's a good to get into practically indirectly insulting other simmers, who are living breathing beings, over a digital video game...
I used to have up to an hour long load screen on my old laptop. It was dying out though and couldn't handle sims 3, pretty sure sims 3 actually killed my laptop. Originally it was like 10 to 15 minute loading screens.
Now I have a gaming desktop and it's like a couple minutes.
Unfortunately players with laptops like my old one are the vast majority, which is why sims 4 is built to run on older computers.
I really think that's a poor excuse for missing content/features, etc. If people want to play the game, I think they should invest in the proper equipment in which to do it. And no, @Zeldaboy180, I'm not having a dig at you at all; I just think it's a really, really bad excuse. I cannot imagine any other company removing content or not adding in content so that it can run on older systems. I cannot get my head around that.
So let's have a look at that. If we're going to adopt that philosophy we should probably look at contemporary games which feature an open world and use their minimum requirement as a baseline. Let's use GTA V that's a purdy lookin' game.
Now keep in mind while we're pondering how pretty that game is, that none of the NPC's are programmed beyond a very limited and focused set of animations.
These are the minimum requirements
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs) / AMD Phenom 9850 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs) @ 2.5GHz
CPU Speed: Info
RAM: 4 GB
OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1, Windows Vista 64 Bit Service Pack 2* (*NVIDIA video card recommended if running Vista OS)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB / AMD Radeon HD 4870 1GB (DX 10, 10.1, 11)
How many people currently playing TS4 can play that? Who knows? But see ya later XP and Vista (32) users...thanks for sharing all your Sims memories over the years...see you when you win the lottery.
So now that we've settled on a new minimum requirement and a newer (more sophisticated) community, we have to figure out how to make this new game better looking, and more stable than the last attempt and we have to do this without sacrificing any of the previous features...so it needs to have memories genealogy, cast, cap. caw color wheels, auto roofs, terrain sculpting...basically everything TS3 had plus everything TS2 had and it's gotta have all that before we can even think about adding any new stuff whew..
And once we're done with all the infrastructure....now we can start working on the Sims.
We probably want to start by making them act exactly the same as they did in TS2 so people don't get too upset....maybe we could subtly slip in a few TS3 animations with the expansions?
At the end of the day we're looking at a game that would take longer to make and cost more in material and human resources
It would be accessible to fewer pople and cost more to buy...which in turn would raise expectations...which would ultimately lead to outrage that Seasons and Pets weren't included in the base game. B)

I won't pretend to understand tech at all (I'm technologically challenged), but if you look at that link that @HappySimmer3 posted above, you'll find a lot of Simmers that would have invested in (and did) a computer to play Sims 4 and I'm sure that they wouldn't be the only ones. What I'm gathering as well is that computers back around Sims 1 days were more expensive than gaming computers are now.
But what I'm gathering from you is that it's ok for corners to be cut, details to be left out, not keeping up with technology instead of trying to find a solution?
