Potion of youth not working

My elder sim drank the potion of youth and nothing happened, what gives?

The potion only works on the life state your Sim is currently in. If you wait till your Sim becomes an elder, they're simply reduced back to Day 1 of the Elder stage. You needed to use the potion during their Adult stage to revert it back to Day 1 of Adult.
