There are certain ways to get to gigs before your Sims is ready. Like doing a movie when you don't have much acting skill. We wanted players to be able to tell that story of their Sim getting a role where they are in over their head. I'm guessing you had one of these talent agencies or celebrity perks to help you get to a higher level gig.
So my level 10 actress only has level 8 acting skill. Per your reply I only need to increase her skill. Is that correct?
