Throwing this out here since gaming is a form of entertainment and more of a LUXURY than anything. Gaming is an expensive hobby which adds up over time if you think about the games you've bought on different platforms over the years.
Yup, it can suck when you can't afford the things you want to get right then and there, but don't think anyone should feel entitled to some early buy incentives because they also spent X money on said franchise as well because it's not 'fair' they can't have it too.
Nothing new with various games and franchises that offer some extra freebies when you pre-order or there is a open window time limit to get.
Heck, it's not even new in advertisement of restaurants offering a LTO specials or certain items or even retail/grocery stores that roll over there sales for new ones.
At best probably offer said freebie extra items to buy at best later on if you didn't buy it early, but for free? Nah.
Reminds me of those LTO pajama items console players could get, but you had other people complaining about not being able to get it as well and they put it in the base game for PC. (For being some very simple and rehashed CAS items). smh
Okay, luxury or not, I’m still paying $60 for one expansion pack. Losing out on objects/content that should be in the $60 piece of content I purchased because I missed the deadline by three days because I’m working and do so in bursts of two months, missing all announcements and even the pre-order window the pack completely. But there are people who cannot afford the packs and, after saving for months, who have also purchased other packs, displaying loyalty, and finally get the pack only to realise they miss out of things because they couldn’t get money quick enough. Yeah, expensive hobby – $1300 worth of DLC for this game alone. Imagine paying that and missing out of three items per pack because you didn’t buy it on release day. Terrible outlook.
It has nothing to do with entitlement at all. In fact, I’d dare say it’s more entitled to gatekeep these items. Also, no one said that if you spend X money, you should get X items. No, the point was if you pay $60 for Lovestruck, you should get all the items associated with Lovestruck.
I get that it is nothing new, but most games don’t do it this way. They offer a deluxe edition that oft has the items. So, you pay more for them + other things. Mostly, pre-order bonuses these days are simply xp boosts or whatnot for multiplayer games. Single-player games do away with this and instead move the items to a deluxe edition – which the Sims 4 has. It costs $10. Moving the pre-order items to this (if you own it) makes more sense.
Also, no one mentioned them for free. I have stated multiple times they should go to the deluxe edition pack. The issue is there is no way to obtain them, whether from Lovestruck or any other older pack. Packs from years ago you still cannot obtain these items. Why?
Simple/rehashed items or not, they’re being excluded for almost no reason except for entitlement and to foster FOMO. If they’re so simple and simple rehashes, why limit them? Surely if that’s the case, no one would care otherwise, right?
