Premade Sims doing service roles.

Hi guys!

(I had this issue a few years ago and made a thread but I can't find it now since we made the switch to the new forums.)

I started a new save, and now my game is not generating random sims as service NPCs. Instead I get premade sims doing service NPC jobs. Like if I go to a restaurant the bartender is Bella Goth instead of a random generated NPC.  I don't like this, I prefer for it to be a Random NPC, and for the premade sims to be the guest not the hired staff. Anyone know why this is happening suddenly in my game? And is there a mod to stop this from happening? I know I remember a few years ago there being a mod the prevent this from happening but I can't seem to find it anywhere. So I decided to ask here.

I'm not sure I posted this in the correct sections. Sorry if I didn't.

Thank you!

  • Hello, I wrote about a topic related to what you said before. Before I add the link, I will briefly summarize the information I know here.

    • The game will pick the premade sims and existing sims to do NPC jobs only if you have EP06 Get Famous.
    • And the game only picks the sim who is unplayed. Sim households that were tagged as played (ex. played once) won't be picked to the NPC until you make them "unplayed"

I have written the details of the NPC assignment with EP06 here.

NPC role assign rule with/without EP06 "Get Famous" | EA Forums - 4960369

My solution for avoiding the game picking existing sims without the ability to choose who does what is...

    • Disable EP06 Get Famous
      • You can find how to do it here if you want https://jamesturner.yt/disablepacks
      • Be aware that you can only do that in the new save. Don't do this to the saved file that already has EP06.
    • Play the household that you don't want them to be NPC once.
      • Just play the live mode of that household and exit. They won't be picked until you untick the "Played" icon in the household menu.
      • This method is also useful to get rid of them from the list of available restaurant/retail/vet employees.

***Just moving household to "My household" doesn't stop that auto-assigned. They have to be played.

I delete random townies every couple times I start up my game, except for my Sim's gardener and maid. I too prefer it to pull from the premades. I wish we had toggles for when we wanted the game to generate townies.

  • I think game can pick any sim that is in "other households" as NPC and if you want to avoid this you should move your premade sims to "my households"

I very much prefer the opposite myself though cause I don't want game generating  randomized sims 😅 more fun to me to watch premade sims take these roles but I do wish we could assign the roles so we could avoid things like Nancy Landgraab as massage therapist

  • I did a little more research and realize that the game isn't generating NPCs. I have no clue on how to fix this. I haven't updated yet and this was happening. Also I started a new save and it still happens. I even set the Sim Count to Unlimited. So now I have to figure out how to fix this or else I  can't/don't want to play the game. 😞  I would very much appreciate it if anyone has a fix or know a mod I can use.
