Using the ancestral flag was a lot better in Sims 3 with mastercontroller, because you could set it on a home instead of a sim. I haven't tried setting a sim as ancestral, but I think I'm about to try in on my first one, Bella and Morty's grandson. Cassandra and Alexander both only had one child each, and Cassie had the boy, so alas the Goth name is no more in WC.
Cassie has passed away, but her son is still living in Goth manor with his dad, the Bheeda spawn. The kid is an adult now and doesn't seem to be in any hurry to get married or have kids, so the manse may eventually go to his cousin. I'm not sure if she has kids or not, I need to check and do some, ahem, prodding along if neither of them have kids yet.
Sorry, that was a ramble. As for the cultural integrity of the worlds, I do care. Thanks to the blessedly fertile Itos, Mt. Korembi is still blossoming. Whenever one marries, the spouse gets moved to Mt. Korembi from their home world. I do need to move more Japanese sims in to expand the gene pool.
Sulani hasn't fared as well, unfortunately. Its population has severely dwindled over the last 3 generations. I need to find Polynesian sims to repopulate it. So yes, I for one do care. I don't want all my worlds to be generic; if the devs went to the trouble to establish these worlds as representative of certain places and peoples, then I'd like to keep that going. I don't play with occults, so those worlds are irrelevant to me.
However, in my other worlds, I cheerfully don't care. They are quite mixed. My 3rd gen heir is the grandchild of Liberty Lee, and her father looks like his mother but alas she doesn't look much like her dad. I really wish she did, but I have a rule that as they are born, they stay.
I've honestly been too involved in my current family lately to tear myself away long enough to put new sims down in other worlds besides Willow Creek. My babies needed spouses!
TL,DR: I do care about the cultural integrity of the worlds and I'm going to be replenishing Mt. Korembi and Sulani with new sims very soon who match those intended ethnicities.
