If removing the mods made your Sims show back up, then I would take a bit of time and return the mods you want, one at a time. Play the game, after adding each, first, to see if it's the culprit. Always delete the localthumbcache.package after each mod is returned. I had problems awhile back. The mods I had were all compatible or newly updated for the Patch/pack. Something still wasn't working right. After I removed them and deleted the localthumbcache.package and things were working in the game as they should, I slowly returned the mods I really wanted and needed, one at a time. Suddenly, even with all of the ones I needed the most were returned, the game was working as it should. Go figure.
