I don’t think my question got answered, so I’ll repeat it: is it 50/50 for a baby to be a werewolf in a mixed occult coupling, or would that cause a hybrid glitch?
I haven't had kids with Werewolves yet, so can't answer this question for certain (that's why I skipped it), but based on what I know of sims genetics and how they are MEANT to work:
Without mods it SHOULD be one occult or the other, as this is the standard for all couplings except those including aliens (they are a species rather than an occult and hybridise, to an extent). People usually only get mixed occults with bugs or cheats.
However, the dormant element of Werewolf genes throws a spanner in the works here, so I have some theories of potential outcomes...
If the Werewolf genes are dormant in mixed couple kids the game might have to make them human to allow the gameplay of triggering full-Werewolf later on, might be set to default to the other occult parent's type with no Werewolf genes or may make them the other parent's occult type, but with the dormant Werewolf genes.
Triggering the genes while being another occult is buggy (someone cheated it onto an occult then triggered it as a test), and likely shouldn't be possible... But if this option occurs then it allows you to cure the sim of their birth occult state (excludes aliens) and choose Werewolf state later by triggering the dormant genes. Alternatively, you could keep the birth state, remain dormant, and chance having Werewolf grandkids when the gene passes to the next gen.
Like I said though, I haven't had Werepups yet and don't know which genetics win out when it comes to mixing genes.
Yeah, I figured it had to be like other occults, with 50-50, but I saw someone mentioned something about dormant werewolf genes, which I didn’t understand, and I also saw a thread where someone got a glitched hybrid (by using cheats or mods, I think?).
I’ll have to look up what the dormant genes aspect means, but anyway, thank you for trying to answer and thank you for your very informative thread, @EmmaVane ! ??
I plan to get this pack sometime soon in the future, so I guess I could always test the genetics bit sometime, lol, hehe! :
