Question about being possessed

I'm playing my sims in Strangerville and they are always getting possessed and won't do anything . Is there a way to stop that from happening ?

I believe you have to play through the whole storyline in Strangerville and defeat the Mother to have it behave like other worlds. Which I why I never play in Strangerville LOL.
