• What exactly the pack offers especially in these areas and if there are any issues with the performance of these features.
GTW offers 3 active career. For the most part it is you just fulfill a list of required actions to fill your event performance bar like when you hold a party. These actions are sometimes random but most times they are meant to guide you through the career and the task at hand.
Detectives will solves cases and go on patrol.
Doctors will examine patients to find the best solution to their illness be it medicine or surgery.
Scientist will mainly focus on having breakthroughs, which unlock new inventions to make and potions to create.
An issue with the careers is that they can get repetitive. My advice is don't go to work with your sim every day. Go with them 2-3 times a week unless you want them to get promoted fast.
You are also able to open up your own retail store which allows you to sell pretty much anything available in build mode as well as almost anything you can make.
Some advice, remember curb appeal, how nice your store is decorated effects how likely sims will visit as well as make a purchase. Remeber to put retail signs as they even state in their description in build mode that they help attract customers. Check on your employees regularly, just because you give them a task doesn't mean they will do it all day. You'll have to reassign them a task since they will eventually stop doing the task you gave them especially if they are low skilled. Try to build your relationship with them and promote them especially as they level up their skills. A happy employee is a more effective employee.
• How much impact the illness system will have, or if there is an option to turn it off.
My sims get sick maybe once every 2-3 weeks. They are mostly negligible but sims can pass their illness to others so at times you can end up with your whole household sick.
• How frequent alien abductions are and if there is a way to avoid them.
For me basically none existent. Abductions have been nerf to the point you forget aliens exist in game. It does seem like households with aliens in them experience abductions more. So if you want to avoid them don't play eith aliens
• If there are any major bugs and glitches with Get to Work.
For retail this is probably less of a bug and more of a design flaw. Sims are attracted to high ticket items. The more expensive it is the more likely they will buy it. So opening a shop that sell low values items will not be that profitable since you will have to spend time schmoozing them into a purchase.
In the detective career you may experience a bug where you can't find the suspect or the suspect does not match the description. In my experience this has been mostly due to CC not properly tagged.
• Will an alien and a mermaid having a baby cause any glitches?
Personally wouldn't know as I never really have occults have kids with other occults. From my understanding though hybrid aren't suppose to be a thing in ts4. Hybrids are often made due to the game glitching since hybrids traditionally end up having lots of issues. They have done patches to try and prevent hybrids from happening.
