OK, so I know you can grow things in planters and tubs in a basement, but I was wondering if you lay down the grass tiles and MOO the plants into the basement instead, will they grow? I was thinking sunken garden covered with a glass roof accessible from the living room of your stylish underground house in Oasis Springs rather than dodgy basement grow room under a run down camelback in Willow Creek

@WaytoomanyUIDs don't think so. However I just watched a recent vid on youtube by deligracy on 5 ways to make a box house better. One of them was a way to add windows to a basement for more light. You can probably use this technique to make a sort of sunken garden I'd think.

Thanks, but the house already has light wells and windows to sunken courtyard, which I was thinking of expanding and making into a garden. Its nice and light, I have another that's even lighter.I've already figured out you can put enough columns and windows into an underground house to pass the Mansion Baron aspiration

@WaytoomanyUIDs yeah I did that with columns myself to complete the mansion baron aspiration. Then I removed a few after completing it because they didn't actually look good there lol.

Tried growing a garden in planter boxes in a basement. Most of the plants died off after a while, I think it was grapes that held on but never grew fruit. When I moved them up to the surface they almost immediately started growing fruit and thriving.Biggest surprise of my basement garden experiment was that the mushrooms all died.

Though if I remember right, the last time I did I got "failed to germinate" messages when trying to plant in a planter pot or box. Had to plant them outside *then* go in to build mode to move them to the basement. Was a right pain.

I've not tried it but I'm pretty sure no. the grass tile is just a floor, the plant would likely recognise its not soil...
Why not try it though?

Yean I think I'll move one of the carrot or onion plants there a quick test. That greenhouse is an eyesore and planters feel to cluttered for the space, so I hope it works. If not, then one level down for a dodgy grow room.

@Starfree Well, I managed 26 plain concrete columns around the rocket pit of my one mad scientists bunker, but that's a special case. But the plain round and square columns are a lifesaver for a modern build.

@SheriSim57 You get something called "basement dirt" if you do that, and the game wont let you put gardening plants down on it without MOO, like with tiles

Tried growing a garden in planter boxes in a basement. Most of the plants died off after a while, I think it was grapes that held on but never grew fruit. When I moved them up to the surface they almost immediately started growing fruit and thriving.

Biggest surprise of my basement garden experiment was that the mushrooms all died.

Though if I remember right, the last time I did I got "failed to germinate" messages when trying to plant in a planter pot or box. Had to plant them outside *then* go in to build mode to move them to the basement. Was a right pain.
